Gaudi Regulated Services: SIPP provider declared in default and open to consumer claims
After a lengthy investigation by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), pension provider Gaudi has finally been declared in default, opening up the possibility of compensation claims for customers – especially those with the company’s Easy SIPP product.
Where it went wrong for Gaudi
Gaudi Regulated Services Ltd specialised in Self-Invested Personal Pensions (SIPPs), operating ‘white-label’ schemes that other firms or business partners could rebrand and modify. However, the pension provider dealt with several failed firms previously investigated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), and also referred high risk investments, allowing clients to move their pensions into their SIPP and make unsuitable investments.
The Gaudi timeline
As a result of complaints about these investments, Gaudi sold its pension business to Platform One in April 2023, at the same time appointing administrators. At that point it was also placed under investigation by the FSCS.
In January 2026, the FSCS completed its investigations relating specifically to claimants holding the GRSL Easy SIPP, reporting that it was satisfied these claimants had valid claims against the firm which would be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Then in March, the FSCS declared Gaudi in default, which means it can assess claims around other products too.
What compensation might be available?
While the FSCS is continuing to assess claims involving the Easy SIPP, their investigations into other SIPPs administered by Gaudi linked to a business partner are still ongoing. In such cases, claims may need to be made against the financial adviser who recommended switching to a Gaudi-administered pension.
The maximum FSCS compensation available for successful claims is up to £85,000.
